Simple, fast and reliable WiFi!

This little key is just great. I have an old desktop computer that doesn't have built-in Wi-Fi and it works great. Windows 10 recognized it immediately. The signal was also excellent through several walls. All in all, a great little adapter without the giant antennas.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Not automatic

Old technology for old technology.

Old tech and slow as hell, just what I wanted. Don't buy if you don't know what you need. It doesn't give you lightning speeds or YouTube in 4k. This isn't a cop. This is for people who need to add Wi-Fi to their Windows XP laptop or any FreeBSD machine because Linux has become too popular (hipsters). It works as intended and works well.

Pros
  • Sturdy finish

does not work with Windows XP

When I bought it it said it would work with Windows XP but it doesn't. So I went back and looked at it and NOW it says it doesn't work with XP. And this isn't the first such bait I've come across on Revain. So when I try to unplug it from the USB socket to plug it back in, the BACK COVER IS SEPARATED and I have to put it back on, grab a pair of pliers and pull it out!?!? what the hell?

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other options

Simple 2.4GHz interface with built-in drivers for Win/Linux/MAC/Pi

I've had several instances where internet was required to install a new operating system. This little WiFi device was such a simple solution. The built-in drivers for Windows, Linux, Pi make it easy to connect, complete the installation and optionally download drivers for other wireless cards later. I keep a few of these handy in my backpack. It's not the fastest, but it shouldn't be. It just works.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Expensive

Easy to install, slower than my old 802.11g wireless adapter

I must have received a defective unit. Windows didn't recognize it at first until I manually installed the drivers from the website. (which isn't very logical if you're waiting for Wi-Fi to even connect to the internet). After that I can join the Wi-Fi network but had low throughput despite full signal display in Windows. I can't see myself messing around with this thing on Linux when Windows has already become a nightmare.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

Works well with Pi 4 and Pi Zero W

I needed a very small Wi-Fi adapter to replace the built-in Wi-Fi on the Pi Zero W to further enhance its reliability to improve the LAN. This adapter takes up less space than any other I've tried. Like other Wi-Fi adapters, this product has very little (virtually non-existent) Linux driver support. (The old version of this product was plug-and-play with zero-pi.) Luckily, the company's tech support is excellent (via email, at least). This product is based on the Realtek Wi-Fi chipset. Edimaxโ€ฆ

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Minor issues

Don't expect this to be easy to do if you're on a Linux machine

TL; DR, if you bought this for a Linux machine, skip the official Edimax drivers (they are outdated). and doesn't work) and search for "github lwfinger rtl8188eu". Follow the instructions on this website and reboot, and you should be up and running in no time. I bought it because Edimax claims to push drivers onto the Linux kernel and was hoping for a simple plug and play device for my Ubuntu server. Not this one. Okay, okay, I'll just call the driver. Well, there is no guide on how to get theโ€ฆ
