We haven't had them in over a year. We have moved to a large lot that is too big to be fenced. We have two Sheba Inus that we wanted to let in the back yard so they don't run around. They are both older and have never had the luxury of roaming free, but teaching them to leave the yard and go in when their time in the backyard was up was difficult. After chasing Max around the neighborhood for the third time in the morning and being late for work, we picked her up. The decision was based on the reviews and the fact that they have a vibration feature, which many people say works. I've tried them on my foot, it feels like a slight hiss on the bottom end and a little stronger on the top end. We had to use a larger spike to get through their fur and also learned that they had to be pressed against the skin and close enough to the dog or they just felt vibrations. After we put them on and Max took them off and nothing worked, we found that the sensors weren't touching, so we switched to the higher ones and made sure they were snug but not tight and the sensors were touching the skin. Of course everyone behaved and reacted that week, but then it happened, I let go of Max, he did his job, looked at me and ran. I kept giving him orders, starting with vibrations, then softly, and finally high as he left the yard. The big one caught his attention and he immediately stopped and turned and looked at his cock, I gave him another command to come back but I think he thought it was an accident so he turned and started again (by this time he was in the neighbors yard) I hit him a second time, he stopped immediately, looked at his cock again and then back at me. He ran to me as fast as he could and was commended for it. About a week later he tried the other side of the house and I hit him once and that was all it took and we don't even have to use them and we don't have to stand outside with them we can watch from the window and just let them know when it's time to come. The other dog never ran out of the yard unless he saw another dog, we never had to hit him, he was quick to respond with vibrations and commands, although sometimes we get an annoyed look and grumble when it's time to go inside, we're pretty sure she knows we're the ones vibrating her MAX, just not that smart I guess. A year later we're happy to report that we rarely use collars, mostly on Max, maybe three times in the last year in a matter of days when he starts ignoring our "Inside" command that it's time to go inside For more than a year I never had to hunt or look for him. In terms of durability we've only worn them going out and they've worn them indoors for 24 hours to get used to them in just a few days so overall they're mostly sitting on the charger or in the bin and not the dogs is more likely a great thing.
