This vent cover was a direct replacement for the old one on my 2004 van. I didn't have to change the base just the cap itself. The Arizona sun ruined the plastic cover after 8 years. I keep the base in case I need to replace it later. The cover mounts on 4 sets of double locating pins (8 pins total) on a screw base to hold it in place. If you have this type of vent, replacing the cap is a breeze. I couldn't find any pictures of the mounting pins on this vent anywhere on the internet, so check your vent first to make sure it's the right one. If I had to replace the base as well, that would be easy as it is attached with 6 screws and some sealant. If you're installing this vent as a fresh install, it should be easy. I've resealed all the screws and edges with Dicor 501LSW self leveling roof sealer (also a great material) and I'm sure it will last for years. I was so pleased with this fan that I bought a replacement. Check out my unpackaged product photos in the intro and read my captions for more details.
