So glad I got it!

I'm a bit new to motorhomes of all kinds. I found that the vent cover on my newly purchased caravan was broken and I didn't feel like taking it apart and replacing this part. Then I stumbled across this EASY solution and I love it! The lid was easy to fit (the hardest part was getting from the ladder to the vent pipe!) and it fit snugly in the chimney - I don't think it will get lost. I am very happy with the price, ease of installation and design of this product.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance

Easy to install - will have to wait to find out more about durability

Received them today and installed two of them in about 30 minutes. Simply unscrew the old cover, remove the putty with a spatula, remove the old cover, and then install the new cover. Comes with plumbing putty that you apply to the base of the unit, screw the unit onto the roof, and then coat it with sealant. I gave it 4 stars because it comes with slotted head screws and not Phillips or square head. Who uses more slotted screws. Hopefully it will hold up over time as the two I took off were…

Firmly holds 1.5 " dwv abs

Spring clips snap firmly into the inner walls of 1.5" ABS tubing. I checked the pull force and the corners of the spring clips act like notches digging into the plastic making the cap very difficult to remove. really dig in. The only weak point I see is how the spring clip attaches to the underside of the plastic cover. I'm pretty sure it will work fine for a few years, but the mount isn't very secure (no mount, not molded) so I wouldn't be surprised to see a bare spring clip sticking out of a…

Well! The vent cap has 3 legs, no spring clip

I ordered 2 of these for my Jayco and they work great. The vent cap has 3 legs at the base and not a spring loaded clip like I had hoped, although other reviewers have pointed out that the spring loaded style is often lost. Big. I didn't use putty or the screws that came with it as I had better quality butyl tape and stainless steel screws. I smeared some Dicor over the screws and around the edges and it looks as good as I wanted. NB: I'm installing these after freshly replacing the entire roof

  • Sturdy design
Cons
  • Dull packaging

Direct Replacement: Vent

This vent cover was a direct replacement for the old one on my 2004 van. I didn't have to change the base just the cap itself. The Arizona sun ruined the plastic cover after 8 years. I keep the base in case I need to replace it later. The cover mounts on 4 sets of double locating pins (8 pins total) on a screw base to hold it in place. If you have this type of vent, replacing the cap is a breeze. I couldn't find any pictures of the mounting pins on this vent anywhere on the internet, so check…

For the price it works very well!

One of my 2 inch PVC vent pipes leaked and ruined my ceiling. It turned out that it went through a 90 degree bend in the attic and that bend was leaking. Rain/snow collected in the ventilation shaft and seeped onto my ceiling. I repaired the broken elbow, but in case one of the remaining roof vents failed the same way, I installed a few devices to prevent further leaks. Both devices are really cheap insurance. IMHO to avoid problems in the future. The first gadget is the Revain Camco 40034…
