Slow connection speed out of the box - terrible drivers and troubleshooting experience

Since one of the headers for my PCI-E wireless card literally fell off from rough use, I thought it was time to replace mine replace $15 card. a Wi-Fi card which I naturally thought Amazon's new option would be the best choice if not the best quality for the price difference. However, this does not appear to be the case; After an hour and a half of troubleshooting I couldn't change the connection type via driver settings as there was no change option and the default adapter is set to 802.11b (which is horribly slow and the card itself as 802.11n)! I've tried everything, reinstalling, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, reinstalling again, to no avail. 1Mbps download speed on okla speed test is stable no matter the load! YouTube was struggling to display videos at 240p! The WiFi card was detected as Qualcomm Atheros AR938x. Searching google for drivers turned up general and sketchy sites that I could hardly trust. The device doesn't even appear in Qualcomm's specs! It's unfortunate that a product with so many positive reviews seems to have such a disappointingly bad experience. Maybe this unit is defective, I'm not sure, but I was able to glue new antennas onto my old card, which worked much better and faster than this one. I will definitely refund the money and send it back to eBay.
