Fast heating; easy to use, hot-hot-hot

LIGHTNING gets hot. I think it took me a little over a MINUTE to reach 390 degrees. The buttons are easy to use and the digital display shows the current temperature. You can easily switch between time options using the forward and backward buttons. It's not huge, but dense and firm. The enamel coating is applied smoothly and evenly and the hair seems to like it. The clip snaps firmly into place and holds tight. It has a really long cable which I was very happy with and a rotating cable base so it automatically rotates when you flip the device up/down/flip. My biggest concern is the tiny, tiny plastic "feet" underneath, which should keep your countertop from melting. They're damn small. While they're technically lifting the device off the counter, it's only a small amount, maybe an eighth of an inch, and if you tilt it slightly to one side or the other, it makes direct contact with the counter. And that brings me to my opinion. next object. It's getting SO hot. AND STAYS hot. Mine was still hot for a good 15-20 minutes after I unplugged it. The counter was still hot after I moved it to another location. The handle becomes hot during use. Handpieces without burns become very hot. I'd probably use a rubber stand or similar if you have counters that could get damaged and/or an oven mitt if you're accident prone. Otherwise a really solid and comfortable device. I got a nice soft beachy wave on my straight hair.
