This review is for the black model, with a power button and two temperature settings.Ok, wow. This is one of those reviews where I honestly don’t have anything thing good to say about the product - just warnings to stay away!UL listed? NOPE - not as far as I can tell. Underwriter labs is a private party that tests products for safety. It is not mandated that items sold be UL listed. They are not a government entity - but it’s a really good idea that if you are going to plug anything in to a wall outlet that it has been certified by UL or one of the other labs for safety. They do a lot of testing of these kinds of products, so if it is "listed” or certified - you are likely safe - or in the event your house burns down and this item were at fault - you have a better chance of insurance covering it since UL works with the insurance industry to underwrite products for safety. My experience was this - I had a hot cup of coffee and since I often get distracted, I will often use a coffee warmer to keep my mug warm for obvious reasons. It was a typical winter morning, so I thought I would enjoy a cup of coffee while I do some geeky stuff in my home workshop. I put my mug on the warmer, which was sitting on my desk, and turned it on 131F. 15 to 20 minutes later I go to grab my mug for a quick sip, and notice the mug felt uneven, as though the warmer was sitting on something and causing it to rock a little.I lifted it up to look underneath and to my surprise, nothing was there. I figured maybe one of the rubber feet were off kilter or something, but when I sat it down on another surface to check, it was suddenly rock solid again. then I noticed a large bulge on my desk top protector, which is heavy duty polycarbonate plastic - I thought "gee, that looks like a big blister!” - So I go to put my hand on it to feel if it was warm or something - and I nearly burnt my hand! It was wayyyyy too hot to touch for more than a split second. Where the mug warmer had been sitting was HOTTER than the actual surface of the warmer where the mug is supposed to go! I got to looking at the bottom of this mug warmer and the label on the bottom is starting to bubble and peel from the heat.Bottom line, this thing is crazy dangerous, and I don’t want my house to burn down. I have another mug warmer that does a better job of heating the mug, and the underside never gets beyond warm, and stays cool enough to touch - it’s nothing special, just a simple on off switch with no timer or anything fancy. It’s almost as though this new mug warmer somehow dumps more heat out the bottom than into your mug. It gets crazy hot out of the bottom. I tried putting it on a silicone trivet, but it still gets way too hot on the bottom of the thing and not so good at doing what it’s designed to do, keep my coffee warm! I’m afraid to use it even on a heat safe surface because the thing itself seems like it could melt or burst into flames.Another thing I don’t like is that is is scary easy to turn on. Like the touch controls are very sensitive, and I have brushed it with my hand before, reaching for something else, and turned it on.I don’t recommend this coffee warmer, I would never gift it to anyone - as I don’t want to be responsible for a possible fire, the value is nil if you can’t use the thing without the fear of burning your home or office down, and though it looks very nice and well made, it does not function in a safe manner in that too much heat escapes the bottom, cooking whatever surface it is on (I use my other, old school mug warmer on the same surface and the surface doesn’t get hot or even warm really) and it is too easy to accidentally turn it on! - they could add a delay to the button press of a few seconds that would help greatly, but if it scorches the desk it is on, not much to gain from that! Please don’t buy this thing, and if you do, watch it like a hawk. Set it on a silicone trivet or something that can handle the heat at the very least! Be safe!
