I first bought these shoes to use with SPD cleats on my road bike. Yes, I'm a noob when it comes to knowing what shoes I really need. Anyway, last year I ran a few marathons and saw riders complain about slipping when walking in regular street shoes. Hence the purchase decision. Now you must understand that these shoes are great for cycling. It all depends on what kind of bike you ride. You need a lighter shoe for races and marathons, but these are for mountain biking and family outings. No complaints to date. I bought lighter road shoes to use for mountain biking and hiking with my family on the beach. The shoes are durable and true to size. Remember that shoes have straps and don't have a locking mechanism like other cycling shoes. I've never had a problem with loose straps, but straps are straps and can only be tightened.
