Works as it should.

Here is my situation. I have been using the petsafe WIRELESS Fence System on my 2 dogs (mini schnauzer and giant schnauzer) for almost 2 years and it has worked great for them. However, I began to realize that it would be better if I could control the more specific areas they were allowed to enter (this system just makes a circle). For example, they ruined my mulch in my flower bed and pooped right in the driveway where we park our cars (it's always nice when people come and have to dodge huge piles of shit). Shock levels are the same as wireless, so I don't need a "stubborn dog" system. I was able to coil about 850 feet of wire in just a few hours (I bought another 500 foot spool in addition to the one that comes with the kit). I am a 33 year old woman and my 12 year old son helped me. After laying everything out in the order we wanted, he used a shovel to simply lift up small patches of lawn while I was on all fours and stuck it under me. We did 200 feet in one evening and did the rest in a few hours the next day. It was pretty easy depending on the type of soil. I would recommend mowing before installing (I don't have and would love to). My dogs mastered the new limits very quickly and I am very satisfied so far. My friend warned me not to bury everything right away because the rope could easily break if left alone (kids trip over it, car, tractor, lawn mower runs over it, etc.). With this system I was really able to give my dogs more space to run and separate areas that I don't need, so a win-win situation. Also, this system (even with my extra coil and collar) was cheaper than wireless. I wish I could do that first.
