Our floor is slate tiles. The slate is smooth but there are seams which combined with the weight of the chairs has caused all the felt pads and glides we have installed over the years to protect the floors to fail. Nothing worked for long! Our stools are bar stools made from heavy wood. The legs are square. The front legs are slightly smaller than the back legs, so my husband wrapped a wide rubber band around the front legs, about the height of a plastic cup. They seem to be holding on. The felt on the underside of the tread feels thin. It all depends on how well the felt pad adheres to the plastic foot shell as we slide the chair in and out. The next week or so will report on that.
