I have an 8 month old miniature dachshund puppy who thinks he is the coolest dog in the world. This leads to LOTS of barking and it drives us crazy! I have never heard of such a device, and since This is not a stun collar, I thought it was more humane, and I wanted to try it. Then I read the instructions. These are very good guides that give you a lot of information, but after reading them I don't think it's any more humane than a shock collar. You will be given two levels of tone emitted by this device along with instructions. tell you to start with the smaller of the two and only move on to the more intense sound if the dog doesn't stop after the less intense sound. Combined with the details, I found that both sounds are very uncomfortable for the dog, ESPECIALLY the more intense sound. After reading this, I felt uncomfortable using it, so I can't comment on its effectiveness. What I can say is the user manual, the device itself and charging are very simple and understandable. It seems to be of decent quality in terms of manufacture, and it's very small - maybe the size of two keyrings - making it very easy to carry around when needed. For those things alone, I would cautiously recommend this device to anyone who is struggling to correct behavior problems with their dog...as long as you don't mind the dog being uncomfortable. That worries me too, because I live in the city and the houses are pretty close together. There are a lot of other dogs around us and the discomfort isn't just limited to my dog. It's not normal and I won't use it.
