Review on πŸ“· Amcrest UltraHD 5MP Outdoor POE Camera: High-Definition Bullet IP Security Camera with Waterproof Design, Wide Viewing Angle, and Powerful Night Vision by Ryan Eastman

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good price but there are glitches

Pros: 1) Very good image quality, good night vision and range 2) Inexpensive 3) Responsive tech support Cons: 1) Having already added this model to two others at used Amcrest cameras (one the same 5MP, the other 8MP) I noticed that the third camera was disconnected from my network every few days. Disconnecting and reconnecting the POE cable would bring the camera back online, but it would eventually turn off again. I ended up replacing it with a 5-megapixel camera from another manufacturer, which worked perfectly. 2) Motion detection is WAY over sensitive, way more than any other brand of camera I've used. This model comes with a default setting of 60 on a scale of 0 to 100. I thought it was too sensitive so I reset it to 30 and got a bunch of false positives. I kept dialing, eventually down to 1, but still got a lot of false positives. I removed most of the field of view with the area adjustment tool, but there were still too many false positives. 3) The Amcrest View Pro app is feature rich and relatively easy to use, but is flawed in some respects. . You can name any Amcrest camera, but when there are more than two cameras on the network, the application will often give two different cameras the same name. If you try to quit the app, you'll get a window asking you to press "OK" if you really want to quit and "Cancel" if you don't want to, but neither Both lets you exit (I had to press the home button on my phone to do this) ). Overall, this is a good camera with caveats, worthy of 3.5 stars (which rounds up to 4).

Pros
  • Dope πŸ”₯
Cons
  • price piggy bank
