Plugged this into my 2017 MacBook Air and then my Emerson TV and bam it worked. The picture on the TV seems even better than the picture on the screen. The audio goes well, although when the audio is already playing on the Macbook before I plug it back into the TV, it sometimes doesn't get through the TV. When this happens, I pause the audio, unplug my Macbook, plug it back in, and resume playback. So far this has solved the problem every time. Plugging it in changes the aspect ratio on my Macbook but it doesn't make much of a difference and it reverts to default when unchecked. It was a great solution between my Wi-Fi BluRay player, which was becoming obsolete due to streaming service support, and upgrading my TV to a smart one.
