Hood shocks no longer support them so I decided to buy this support bar instead as I didn't want to spend more than $100 to replace it on the car to let shop. I also didn't want the screw pin clamp cutting into the metal of the hood pillars just to hold the hood up, so I figured a support bar would be the best solution. They make a great temporary tool and are perfect for trunk emergencies as they are just a little over a foot long when folded. The ends are rubber/grip material and the bottom end has a thicker perimeter where you basically twist one way to open/loosen and adjust the length of the handle and twist the other way to lock it /put on (similar to an adjustable shower). and curtain rods work). It seemed to hold my hood up pretty tight and I'm glad I bought this handy tool.
