Designed to hold gas charged lift supports found on hoods, tailgates, hatchbacks and trunks. Securely holds weak lift supports in the extended position to allow access. Strong steel thread surrounded by an aluminum clamp to prevents damage to lift support. Change weak lifts on vehicles with two support rods. Replace one while holding hood or hatchback up. Adjust to fit any size support up to 3/8 inch quickly, and helps prevent accidental bumping prop rods.
I have a small RV and tow it with my jeep. My hubs and I are still new to trailer towing for 1.5 years. It usually hits the trailer but this time it was out of service and I had to take it in for repairs. I have a backup camera but it's behind the spare tire so I can't see the tow bar. Hood shocks no longer support them so I decided to buy this support bar instead as I didn't want to spend more than $100 to replace it on the car to let shop. I also didn't want the screw pin clamp cutting into the metal of the hood pillars just to hold the hood up, so I figured a support bar would be the best solution. When we bought the trailer I bought cheap Camco pads. They get the job done, but I've never felt like they reliably block bike path/movement. Performance Tool 41001 Backing Pads hold the tire better and prevent wheel movement. You can see in the picture that the PT wedges match my tire tread better than the yellow Camco shoes. I think the PT will also be easier to remove because the tires won't roll over it like the Camco trailer does. no voids like I could see on some others. I park on gravelβ¦
