PACKAGING: I bought a standard set of 48 colors. Artistro absolutely nailed it with this matching pink packaging. Inside the velvety embroidered drawstring pouch is a sturdy flower jar with a hinged lid to keep your 48 halves safe and healthy. The packaging is a beautiful eye-catcher and I am very happy to have it in my collection. WHAT'S INSIDE: Artistro designed this set with artists in mind and it comes with pretty much everything you need to start painting the moment you open the box. The kit includes a triangular 2B PENCIL pencil, which is very comfortable to hold. There is also a great little SOFT ERASER that I just love. Erases very cleanly, without stains and does not tear the paper. Also included in the set is a small SPONGE which can be used to dab the brush making a great addition to the set. Next, let's look at the two brushes that come with the Artistro set. The first is a small ROUND BRUSH that you can use for fine details or small areas. The brush works great and the bristles don't stand up. The second is a ROUND WATER BRUSH. This brush tip was slightly larger. I really liked this brush. This brush has a button to control the amount of water you want to release which was an amazing feature. And finally you get 48 HALF POTS, 4 METALLIC AND 4 NEON. The cups are removable, which I find to be an extremely useful feature when only certain colors are used for painting. All of this has its perfect place for a tray cutout that fits snugly against the can. Artistro has also included a transparent SAMPLE CHART that you can easily use for color matching if you use a reference. There is a BLANK SAMPLE DIAGRAM that you can draw yourself. Each block has three sections so you can check the saturation of each color. They also contained ten sheets of 5β x 8β 140lb/300 gram WATERCOLOR PAPER. The paper held up very well and did not warp or warp. I would love to get my hands on a whole pad of this paper. COLOURS: Artistro did a great job putting these colors together. I didn't have any luck with watercolors before; they have always been chalky or sandy. So I just stopped using them. I wanted to try it one last time and that's where I was drawn to the Artistro tin can (I didn't know it came with a velvet pouch, that was a big plus). I started by filling out a sample card and immediately noticed that these colors are from a different league. The colors are bright and smooth. I wanted to do all the work using my usual methods before forming an opinion. So I picked the right colors, airbrushed them, sketched the base, and got to work (the work is featured in this review). The colors are creamy and go on very evenly. I have not experienced any hardship at all. I used the wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry methods; I didn't bother with color at all. I made mistakes, but they were strictly operator errors. Colors are smooth and easy to manipulate on paper. (The color manipulation is shown in the video.) They're fairly light, highly pigmented, and very easy to blend. The pans stayed wet for a while and didn't have to be constantly sprayed to re-wet them. I used a reusable brush for most of the work. And I have to say again that this brush is just awesome. I've never used a button brush before, and just because of this feature, I will only use this brush from now on. This is another item that Artistro plans to sell separately. Artistro has chosen an excellent color scheme. The perfect balance of warm and cool colors. They even included white, which I noticed is that a lot of sets don't have it. And if the color you want isn't in the set, the colors mix and match so easily that you'll have no trouble mixing the right color. They also included 4 metallic colors and 4 neon colors. I was pretty impressed with it. Metallic colors will set and have a great metallic sheen whether you illuminate them with light or not. The neon colors surprised me too. They also lay quite firmly and stayed very bright. I think it would be interesting to use them for black light painting. FINAL THOUGHTS: This set packs a punch. Bravo artist! From the great packaging design to the very well planned contents and the high performance of the inks themselves; This set comes highly recommended. I'm a budget artist like most of us and I usually have to settle for lower quality. But these colors are very high quality at a pleasantly low price. I recommend everyone who is interested in watercolor to try them. Beautiful packaging is also a great gift. I already bought a set for a friend and am planning to buy a second set for myself. Thanks Artisto! I can't wait to see what you come up with next! **Artistro acrylic paint markers were used for snow and Santa's face. **
