My 7 year old loves this set and makes all kinds of creations with it. Sometimes he does what the instructions say, and sometimes he makes his own figures, molds, drawings, etc. He seems to have used this many times and still has plenty of clay left. There are many more interesting things. It's worth noting that it's more of a fluffy, foamy "clay" that's hard when dry but not harsh to the touch. But like other, more sticky/gummy modeling clay, it lends itself very well to sculpting.
