The LED strips I used had a silicon seal on top and 3M glue on the bottom and very small copper contacts. I had to peel the silicone off the edge about 3mm, but when I removed the adhesive backing it was still too sticky to get under the pins and didn't fit snugly. So I left the glue on and placed the copper leads of the LED strips face down onto the connector pins (instead of pushing them through the bottom) and it made a snug fit. Of course, polarity still had to be observed. In fact, I had to tap the lid with a small hammer. Most of them worked fine, some had to be rearranged. We used heat shrink tubing over the wire and cut it to fit over the connector. We put them through very small holes and they still worked. Soldering is definitely better. My husband has huge fingers and has had a lot of problems, but I have munchkin hands and have had no problems. Written instructions would be very helpful, even if I did it upside down. Good product for the price.
