This is the same rating as the conditioner. This is by far the absolute best shampoo and conditioner combo I can use for light/saturated color. I've been dying my hair fun colors for the last 3 years and it helps the color last weeks longer than other color treated shampoos and conditioners. I really buy them in industrial sizes because I know they will be used. I have fine, very long hair and this shampoo + conditioner weighs me down and doesn't dry me out. The smell is pleasant enough, but I mostly use other products too, so I don't care about the scent. Of course, there are a few things to keep in mind when working with light colors: 1) I highly recommend washing your hair in COLD water. I have very long hair so I wash it separately from the shower. It's really annoying in the winter when the tap is really cold, but it makes up so much that it's worth it. 2) Try to shampoo the roots only and don't leave the shampoo on your hair for too long. (form a good lather and rinse immediately). Try to only apply conditioner to the ends - I usually avoid applying conditioner over the ears as the roots start to look oily soon after. You can and should leave the conditioner on for a while before rinsing it out. 3) Depending on the hair type, try to take breaks between hair washes that are as long as possible. Invest in a good dry shampoo for days without a wash (Amika Perk Up has been the best for me so far, even with my dark roots). 4) The first wash will be intimidating, there is nothing to do. It will seem like all the money you just spent is going nowhere. The first few washes will look painful, but it's not as bad as your shower floor looks. Hold tight! In the end, as long as I keep dying my hair with bright colors, I will continue to buy Color Me Vivid Shampoo and Conditioner.
