Review on Acer UM.JE2AA.005: Viewable Freesync 2560X1440 Widescreen 31.5" – Ultimate Display for Immersive Multimedia Experience! by Daniel Cahill

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good big monitor on a budget

I'd like to preface this by saying that you should look for additional reviews on Newegg and other sites as Revain doesn't have many reviews specifically for this monitor. Compare notes and reviews before deciding if this monitor is right for you. Here are my pros and cons for a simple breakdown: PROS + GREAT + Crisp and crisp + Good colors (may need some tweaking depending on your work or preferences?) + Not bad for gaming in general + Cables included (except HDMI) + Direct setup of boxes (if you don't want to mount it or change the base)? + It has a weird headphone hook that you can screw on the back CONS + The speakers are of pretty poor quality (I never use them because I use a headset) + The stand takes up a bit more space than expected + Power and adjustment buttons are on the back of the monitor + CUTE PIXELS (see below for details) It took me a while to get used to this new monitor but I have to say that overall I like it. It's versatile for what I want to do (video games, illustrations, etc.) and fits my budget. Now that I've been working with it for almost a month, I'm happy to say it will be one that will stay with me for a long time. I'm not a particularly picky person as long as the monitor does its job and the image is clear for my artwork. I've also upgraded from a large LCD screen so it's safe to say this was an improvement for my eyes, now I don't have blurry text and images bothering my vision. Frames seemed a bit choppy after adjustment when testing a third-person RPG, maybe because I'm not used to framerates and clarity, but I no longer have this problem when playing anything. I'm not an expert on whether this will suffice for more competitive first-person games, as most of my library consists of single-player storytelling. However, MY BIGGEST WARNING is that the monitor may ship with dead pixels. According to other reviews, it's a recurring breach related to a manufacturing issue. The monitor I currently have is the second one they sent me as the first one had some clumps of dead pixels in the center of the screen. I naturally took that risk after reading the reviews and asked for an exchange as soon as I saw they were there. Luckily the second time was charming and I didn't have any more problems so this is just fair warning that you might run into someone who might have this problem.
