UPDATE: Had to remove all the stars. I followed the lubrication instructions (see my advice below) but it only worked for a very short time. So, I have another BASIC complaint about this article. The pump is very, very sticky. What I mean is that I actually have to use 2 hands and some muscles to power the pump. If you do, you're pulling on that thing and it can knock your hoses out of the tanks they're in, causing a fuel spill. I lubricated the pump with light oil, but that doesn't help for more than a moment. I want to be able to drain the fuel without splattering flammable liquids all over the place. So, like a siphon, I consider it dangerous. Typical Chinese quality. I should have listened to the negative reviews. Exactly what I was looking for! Anyone who uses Coleman's much underrated oil stoves and lamps knows that the design of the fuel tanks makes it impossible to drain all the fuel from the tank. It is best not to store liquid fuel in the tank for years, as deposits can form and clog the flow of fuel. Not to mention; Although the fuel tank is fairly well sealed with various gaskets and valves, it is recommended that the unit be drained of all fuel before servicing. The fuel tank opening in a Coleman fuel tank (except maybe very old ones) is 1/2 inch. The O.D. of the orange hoses matches the Coleman fuel tank, allowing you to drain all the fuel. Be careful with this tool. I didn't follow the instructions exactly (or use common sense) and ended up spilling fuel on my hands and the garage floor. This pump offers good suction power, making it easy to get carried away. If I had sunk the drain hose into the reservoir as suggested, it wouldn't have been a problem. Instead, I kept the hose end in a small filter funnel. After only two tanks of fuel, the fuel started leaking out quickly and spilled onto my hands. So be aware that this will unleash powerful suction with just a few swipes. The instructions say to pump until suction starts and then stop pumping and the device will continue to suck. It meets my expectations and I am very happy with it so far. Complaints? Package. This is disposable bubble wrap. Not reusable. So there's no other way to keep it together and clean than to find something else to put it in. closest to the handle) and operate the pump several times to lubricate the plunger. New, mine was quite stiff and difficult to inflate. I just needed some lube. Regular lubrication ensures trouble-free operation.
