Review on πŸ”‰ Icstation Digital Audio Transmitter Stereo DSP PLL Module 88-108MHz with LCD Display, MIC, and USB Input: High-Quality Wireless Audio Transmission Solution by Andrea Sledge

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Universal FM transmitter!

Ideal for transferring data from a PC or MP3 player to a home audio/stereo system. A major advantage over Bluetooth as there is virtually no latency; so good synchronization with the video... The module has a clear LCD display with blue backlight. Each time a button on the front panel is pressed, the display lights up for about 10 seconds and then turns off. Option module has three main modes of operation: 1. Microphone - enabled when audio input or USB are not used2. Audio input via 1/8" headphone jack - convenient for connecting an MP3 player or phone3. UPB – Useful for connecting a phone, PC, tablet, etc. There are five (5) buttons on the front panel for controlling frequency Β±, volume Β± and pause. The volume control has 30 settings labeled U00 - U30. The frequency range is a typical US range of 88-108 MHz. .The sound quality is excellent in all modes! The module comes with no antenna cable installed, so it takes some skill to solder the 73cm cable to the ANT pad on the board: I have a (probably uncalibrated) spectrum analyzer in my home lab. , I checked the output power. The output power was less than the advertised 100 mW (20 dBm). I only measured about 3.4 dBm (2.2 mW). However, this shouldn't be a problem/issue for most users as the module reliably transmits over reasonable distances - I was able to reliably get high quality sound anywhere in the 4000ft house. The FCC used to set a maximum power limit for an unlicensed FM station, but the definition is now more vague and complex. General Translation - The range of an unlicensed FM transmitter shall not exceed approximately 200 feet for a Part 15 FM transmitter (see FCC Public Notice dated July 24, 1991). A more technical definition is that the transmitter level must not exceed 250 Β΅V/m at 3 meters (also measured as 48 dBΒ΅V/m). Conclusion: Good quality and versatile FM transmitter. Fully suitable for in-car or home broadcasting in accordance with FCC regulations 
