Review on Wald 5.25-Inch Rise MTB Handle Bar: Enhance Your Off-Road Riding with Chrome 27.1 #803 by Justin Pavelko

Nice set of steel handlebars at a good price

These handlebars could be the ticket to saving your back. They have nice high buoyancy and aren't overly heavy like many steel bars. The price is right compared to expensive aluminum bars and they are also nice and stiff unlike many aluminum bars which feel pliable to me. The only issue I have is that they are a bit wide for my liking. in the city and commuting to work a lot, where you have to pass and drive between cars that are stuck in traffic, then this is not a problem. For me, with these 27" bars, there are a lot of gaps in the road that you just CANNOT hit. I cut almost 2 inches off each end of my bars and that was all that could be removed without hitting the brakes pedal. Sit in the curved part of the bar where they just can't hold on or sit up straight. It depends on how big your brake bars are (I have heavy duty MX style DiaCompe levers for bikes that have a lot of room and full-size MX-style levers that protrude more than many new MTB brake levers. If you have brakes/shifters installed, they can take up more space, so you can't cut more than an inch of them. Be aware there are other turns that start earlier which can contribute to more tightness.
