This mount works differently than most other mounts. Most of them are plastic devices that have a spring-loaded holder that holds the phone, supported by some sort of elastic web, and then a plastic clip with some sort of handlebar or thumbscrew. The two parts are connected by a rod with a ball joint at one end or the other, allowing the phone's angle to be easily adjusted (and tending to deviate with vibration and shock). This holder is all metal and completely rigid once in place. The handlebar clamp is firmly bolted to the phone stand and cannot be adjusted once the bolts have been tightened. The phone stand itself uses a metal thumbscrew to hold the phone. So far the screw hasn't loosened during use and the phone holds tight. The phone is held in place by four metal tabs that are tightened with the thumbscrew mentioned above. Given the significant mechanical advantage of such a screw, I believe it would be entirely possible to squeeze the phone too hard and crack the glass screen. Otherwise, the phone mount feels solid and bulletproof.
