Review on Sangean RCR 20 Bluetooth Charging Digital by Pete Deutsch

Expensive junk - don't waste your money

I've already bought 2 of these. I use it on my bedside table primarily as a clock/alarm and secondarily because of the good quality of the radio. After years of cheap alarm clocks I wanted something better. This latest version will be my last Sangean product that I will buy. I've had this current one since late December 2018. Just this week the watch's display is going crazy and almost unreadable (see photo). Since this is the primary use of this item, it's pretty much useless to me right now. I had a cheap $10 clock radio that lasted 20 years and still works, but this thing fails in less than 2 years. The first one I had (September 2017 - December 2018) was, as you can argue, my fault. I accidentally pulled on a thin antenna wire that just snapped out of the circuit board inside. In my opinion the pressure it took to pull it out was unreasonably light, but I did it again. I was surprised that there was no strain relief built in. The warranty has expired, I've decided to disassemble it and try to solder it back. No way. Because of the way this thing was designed and built, I basically had to destroy it to get to the point where I could fix the antenna. I like the design of this clock radio and the sound quality is pretty good. I don't mind paying a lot of money for good, quality stuff, but this doesn't fit into that category. Yes, it's expensive compared to most other clock radios on the market. However, you don't get the expected quality for this price. I would recommend that you look elsewhere if you are interested in a high end clock radio.
