They fall apart - choose greener ones.
They definitely don't last long. I mistakenly bought these thinking they were a hard steel wool style sponge (yes that's my fault). It's a cheap plastic that loses its silver metallic plastic (plastic) coating with every use. We have the best purifiers on the market that don't promote microplastics in our water systems. Don't make the same mistake I did. Do yourself and our planet a favor and skip this step and use a biodegradable sponge.
