I bought this for my 2017 MacBook Air with Thunderbolt 2. I can connect my VGA monitors to it, mirror my laptop display/monitor and use it just like my laptop display. Also, my old desktop is getting slow so I can use the laptop with this and my desktop monitor. Also, you can use a mouse and capboard while using a laptop as a desktop replacement. Unhook everything when you want to take the laptop with you or when you travel, and use it as usual. Plug it in when you get home.
