Review on πŸ”§ High Quality Clamping Pieces - HHIP 3901 0006 by Tim Burns

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Basically it will work. Terrible quality, precision, workmanship and NOT hardening. Avoid if possible.

Two stars because all the bolts and nuts mesh well without binding and the t-nuts are cut so the bolts don't go through them. It's not totally useless, it's just that the description is misleading. Nuts, straps and rivets are mostly fine. They work. The lugs aren't all exactly straight, the nuts aren't all the same size (I'm not talking a few thousand - I'm talking visually different), and the belts don't flex/flex noticeably degrees under load. adequate torque. However, none of these parts are hardened. The steel they're made of might be a bit stiffer than plain old mild steel, but a cheap file will bite without hesitation (this file can't rasp any more than mild steel), and the thin ends of some graded blocks will flex with ease. breaks or cracks. It's impossible to bend that thin hardened steel without at least *some* stress cracking - in some cases we're talking foil gauge. The use case expansion doesn't need to be very deep depending on how long the process might take, but it's nil. No hardening. No one. Also, several tread blocks were not machined properly, resulting in skewed treads. Luckily they are parallel to the underside so the block only sits at a slight angle to the belt - still functional, just wrong. The holder/pointer is a piece of stamped sheet metal that acts as the back and bottom, and the pointer itself is a molded block of plastic. It works. This is sufficient. Do not buy this set. The $15 premium you're facing doesn't get you finer machining, proper quenching, or anything else - it's just money burned. I would return this set myself for one of the cheaper options but due to current events all deliveries are taking a few weeks and I have to work this weekend. $15 in my pocket isn't worth the long delay. I have photos of what I am describing but no way to attach them at this time - will update if this changes.
