I have been using this lens in conjunction with the 40d for over a year. I mainly shoot water sports with it. Very satisfied, perfectly sharp shots, fast and accurate focus incl. and in tracking mode, a beautiful background, sharpness is not lost at an open aperture. An excellent stabilizer, when shooting handheld at 400mm (and on a crop it’s the equivalent of 640mm), it is useful. The trombone zoom is very handy, especially when shooting an approaching/retreating subject. Actually, there are simply no alternatives to this lens; at 400mm, besides it, kenon has only fixes for completely immoderate money. The lens is perfectly made, it worked in drizzle, dust, and salt spray of the sea - everything, pah-pah, excellent.
