After reading the reviews of these airstones I decided to buy some epoxy and smoothed the entire top of the stone where the inlet tube is with epoxy. Let it dry for a few days and installed six of these in our pond (I also installed a high volume, six tube air pump that I bought on Amazon). great energy from sucked air! I think it's important that the epoxy covers the entire top circle. Also make sure you have a powerful air pump. Their weight also helps secure them to the ground.
