I was actually planning to buy a Maxtrax recovery track set when I stumbled across GoTreads and I'm so glad I did. In my opinion, GoTreads is much better at everything but spaces, and here's why: 1. Dragging. Traction on Maxtrax and similar recreational tracks depends on small lugs that tend to wear out or come loose as the wheel slips. Incidentally, Maxtrax's warranty doesn't cover this as they don't consider it a manufacturer defect. GoTreads have a much stronger self-centering tread pattern that provides excellent grip on both the tire and the ground below.2. Little footprint. The Maxtrax folds up nicely, but at around 4 feet long, it takes up a lot of space, so most people mount it on the roof or in the back of a truck. GoTreads can be thrown in the trunk or even on the floor of the smallest compact car. The best tools only work if you have them with you when you need them.3. alignment. You can use GoTreads as an adjustable vehicle or trailer leveling system. MaxTrax cannot do this.4. durability and guarantee. Both Maxtrax and GoTreads have a lifetime warranty. Maxtrax states that using more than one light truck will void your warranty. GoTreads is specifically designed for military and commercial use. Therefore, even a stuck tractor-trailer does not void the warranty.5. Price. Neither product comes cheap, but Maxtrax costs more than twice as much as GoTreads. In my opinion, GoTreads are superior to the current kings of recreation tracks (off-road, anyway) in every way imaginable, with one exception of the bridge, which obviously won't happen with GoTreads. For the main goal - unhooking a stuck car - GoTracks unconditionally win and fully justify their price tag.
