I bought this specifically to control Black Beard Algae (BBA) in my shrimp tank. I used an inexpensive syringe (broad tip, no hypodermic opening) to inject the recommended amount (5ml per 10 gallons) directly into the BBA area once a day each day. It's been five days and it's working pretty well. When dying, blackbeard algae will turn gray or gravel in one day and bright pink or red in a day or two. It is currently bright pink or red. The algae directly where the syringe was triggered turned first, so I was targeting a new area of my aquarium each day. To date, day five, almost all of the BBA in my tank have turned pink, even in the places where they weren't directly injected. I had no losses from Caridina shrimp or Nerit snails in the tank. The plants I have in my aquarium: Anubias, Sagittaria, Marimo Algae and Java Moss seem unaffected so far. They don't appear to be growing any better, but have not suffered any damage from the treatment. Overall, I highly recommend this product for removing black beard algae. I have no idea if it actually works for its intended purpose, but it works fine for my purpose.
