Review on 12 Gauge AWG 30ft Speaker Wire by InstallGear - 99.9% Oxygen-Free Copper True Spec Cable with Soft Touch Brown Coating by Jorge Kehayas

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Meets spec, quality product

Bought for use as the main speaker in a home theater system, decided to compare it to some other 12 and 14 AWG cables I had (see Photos) ) ) . Cut about 1.75 inches from each wire and strip the copper from the insulation. Measured metal weight of each strand with precision scale: 0.2g: Pyramid Power 12 AWG (see other review) 0.4g: Monster XP 14 AWG, purchased circa 2000, discontinued. in 20180.8: 14 gauge hardware store purchased in 2012. Standard hardware store cord met specs. Monster wire is marked 14 AWG on the scabbard but was later sold as 16 AWG which would be more accurate. I didn't rip off a long enough piece from each coil to measure the resistance of the various wires (I didn't want the hassle) but of the four the Installgear handles the best and looks good with the smoked insulation I could see the OFC -Didn't verify claim and it had no features in its design. the wire is really Kat. It has two outer layers of insulation and a transparent plastic strand around which the copper strands run. If it was available in 12 gauge I would buy more, although I expect it to be more expensive per foot than the Installgear. For the price, spec accuracy, build quality, and affordability, I give this cable 5 stars.
