Review on πŸšͺ ROK Hardware Brass Magnetic Door Stopper, 3 Inches - ROKMDS1B by Allison Acosta

It's an ace! suitable for office furniture and lighting

I replaced the hinges on the bathroom door after which it started to close by itself. So I decided to look for a magnetic doorstop. I am simply delighted with this product. It works exactly as I hoped it would and even better. In fact, the door stop section has a very open radial surface where the door bumper can be gripped. This means if you mount the cork on a wall you can mount it both vertically and horizontally and it will still work great. It just depends on your aesthetics. That also means it should work well on the floor. After receiving this I (as did others) thought for a minute how to take the parts apart. But if you look at the photos, you will see that the cork has a threaded part (nipple) in the middle. After a few seconds I realized that both the stopper and the bumper just need to be unscrewed to get to the screw holes. This point is not mentioned in the instructions, but it is quite intuitive. I had to put a couple of small screwdrivers in each hole in the bumper and twist to unscrew them. If you're installing this on a wooden baseboard and door (like I did) you won't need anchor dowels. Just use screws. Simple procedure with a screwdriver (drill). I should mention that I'm quite experienced with repairs, so it took me maybe 5 minutes to install everything. But even if you don't have that experience, just take a few minutes to think and use your common sense and you'll be fine. Installing on tiles is a little more work. In this case, you should only install the stopper so that the ring is completely perpendicular to the door. Plastic anchors also come into play when installing on surfaces other than wood. The small instruction card mentions using a 3/32" bit for anchors - that's not correct at all - a bit too small. I think it's a typo. Should be at least a 3/16" bit (twice the size). And make sure you use a masonry drill and not a regular wood or metal drill. Another useful thing is that the bumper is equipped with a spring. Once installed, it eliminates any discomfort when connecting the bumper and cork. However, this spring inside the bumper makes it difficult to screw the face back on once installed. Once again, be patient. I would also like to point out that most of the negative reviews about this product are unfounded and most likely written by those who don't really understand what this product is for or how it should be used. Magnetic attraction IDEAL for indoor use. However, I see reviews that say it doesn't keep the door open in Stormwind (to paraphrase). What the hell? Please understand what the product is for before you buy it. Definitely recommended 5 stars. It's beautiful, customizable, works well, and is very cheap. Plus, it goes well with all the oil-rubbed bronze lamps we've recently upgraded. (sorry for the bad picture - considering phone upgrade haha)
