Review on Swagman XTC2 Hitch Bike Rack by Tay Fair

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Thoughtful design and well made.

Everything I hoped for. Reliable construction. The top bar hooks have a ratchet so they stay in place when you hit a big hit. A few weeks ago, a bike fell off my old Sportrack of a similar design. The set screw keeps the wheel brackets from slipping off the bar end if you forget to tighten the knob and it comes loose, which happened to me with my old bike mount. The large holes allow you to use a 5ft Krylon cable to attach your rack and bikes. Some people have complained about how hard the plastic is on the top bar hooks. It will likely scratch or wear out. I just fitted them with styrofoam pipe insulation. The tube foam was marked for 7/8' OD tube. Anti-bounce, stabilizer, stops swaying. $10 Off All #RET-HTC-TGHT Auto Parts. This also fits a 1 1/4" square stem. I installed it between the receiver mount and the bike rack and it eliminated the excessive rack wobble. I used the 5 foot kylon cable and padlock I had on hand which saved me extra expense.I leave it on all the time and this allows me to attach the stand to the receiver hitch myself. My receiver hitch has holes big enough to fit the end of the cord loop through. The ratchet hook on the top bar can also accommodate a small padlock to deter theft but the cable and padlock combo is more substantial and is always on my truck. Finally, I like the rubber band between the bike tire and rim.Easy as pie.One of the downsides is that on the post a There was a sticker attached stating not to be used on the back of a fifth wheel or camper could become. I plan on welding a receiver hitch to our pop-up camper for a big trip out west this spring, unless the camper shop says it's a really bad idea.
