Holds bikes great, difficult to handle

First of all, this bike holds bikes very well. It's nice that it has a coupler adapter that can be used with both a 1 1/4 coupler and a 2 inch coupler. The reason for the 3-star rating is the difficulty in releasing the holding mechanism. This thing jams when trying to remove bikes. My wife, who has small hands, sometimes can't solve it, which makes her very frustrated. You have to press down the button with a force and also shake it to release it. My wife managed to scratch every machine that…

Second update: Bike rack broken for the second time. The first time it was rubber bands that broke within a few weeks of purchase. A few weeks later, the upper arm hook that hooks onto the bike's frame to hold the bike in place failed and the bike fell off the back of the car (sort of). This time the straps held tight so the bike was pulled from the back of the car until I could stop safely. Latest update, replacement bands are hard to find. There are spare parts that you can buy that are…

Was hoping for more! camping

As an avid cyclist, I wanted to buy a bike rack that would give me confidence in the security of my expensive road bike when transporting it from one seat to another. It was also important to me to break away from the traditional struts that let your front wheel spin freely while driving, which can cause damage to your car or motorcycle. Although the price was fair I did notice that some of the things that need improvement or should have been included in this price are: The two bolts that…

Great bike rack at a fair price.

This article has been tested several times and most of the content is correct. 1.) It is well made and sold at a reasonable price, especially when compared to bike brands. I've tested all other similarly priced racks and this one has the best combination of features: straps to hold bike wheels, anti-roll pin, vertical ratcheting arms. As others have pointed out, raised wheel arches improve ground clearance. However, there are a few reviews that I think are wrong. Some have complained of…

Thoughtful design and well made.

Everything I hoped for. Reliable construction. The top bar hooks have a ratchet so they stay in place when you hit a big hit. A few weeks ago, a bike fell off my old Sportrack of a similar design. The set screw keeps the wheel brackets from slipping off the bar end if you forget to tighten the knob and it comes loose, which happened to me with my old bike mount. The large holes allow you to use a 5ft Krylon cable to attach your rack and bikes. Some people have complained about how hard the…
