Review on Enhanced Bluetooth 5.0 Stereo Audio Amplifier: Fosi Audio BT10A (2021 Upgraded) by Jeff Payne

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great amp for the money but Bluetooth SQ isn't very good

As an amp this little guy is just great! Amazingly clear and powerful sound that even makes midrange speakers sing. However, there is a glaring problem. Bluetooth! It works with a very simple bluetooth configuration where there is no switch, it just accepts the bluetooth connection and stays that way until it loses the bluetooth signal. Not very elegant, but functional in most cases. If you have more than one, it's a hassle to figure out which is which. But communication and reach are enough. Nothing to deduct a star. So what's the problem? Bluetooth sound quality. Although advertised as Bluetooth 5.0, it sounds like a device with Bluetooth 3.0 or earlier. A very compressed/sizzling top end is presented. It's not loud, but it's there and very noticeable on critical listening. The sound quality is MUCH better when a computer, tablet or phone is connected directly via RCA. So if RCA performance is a priority, that's fine. BT can be used in critical situations, but you don't want it to be your primary use case. I wanted it in my garage and it became very noticeable at high volumes. At first I thought it was because the amp ran out of power, but there was no problem with the RCA. Tried several BT devices, same problem. I now have an old Onkyo receiver and a separate $25 Revain BT station and it sounds MUCH better in the garage but takes up MUCH more space and uses more power. But I would be happy if the quality of BT was better. For setting up desktop computer speakers or a stationary small entertainment area with a TV, this is awesome! We have one in my son's room with bookshelf speakers and it's perfect. He is 4 years old and can only use it as an amplifier without any problems. Please Fozie bring the BT SQ up to spec and you have the best little amp out there. If it were a more expensive device I would only give it 3 stars, but the price is great. I especially like it on bookshelf sized speakers, just make sure that they are efficient enough unless they are only used for quieter applications.
