Let's face it, DMC is the cheapest thread in the US right now, but it offers imperfect coverage in very light shades (Blanc, B5200, Ecru, and Pale like 3756 and 928). ) and in black. If I can avoid it I never embroider on 14/28 gauge fabric, prefer 16/32 gauge and above, but even then I don't feel like I'm getting full coverage with these colors. And since I rarely embroider on white fabric, this is it. I just hate seeing fabric through stitches and it seems like I can't completely avoid it with light or black yarn. Enter CXC, a mixture of China. It is strong like DMC and Anchor, will not kink, fray, unravel or behave like cheap thread. In fact, it's a bit thicker than DMC and Anchor and offers coverage that I found lacking in the colors I mentioned. Well I'll be honest this is the first time I've bought a CXC from Revain (I usually buy it from a Facebook source) and I spent more per skein than I'm used to but it was still 0 $.25 each skein deal. Best price at major craft stores when DMC is on mega sale is $0.34 per skein, quite a big jump in price over this item when viewed in dollar skeins. And of course, who doesn't need more black thread? It is worth noting that this is real, legit CXC and the seller is not telling the truth about its composition. CXC is a cotton blend, not 100% cotton as the seller says. But don't be put off by the concept of the mix. It feels very soft and silky in the hand, has the same shine as DMC/Anchor and can be embroidered wonderfully. CXC also does not discolour like large dogs do. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
