Apparently KIA and Hyundai made between 2011 and 2014 in the style of "ploughboards" have many problems. Maybe that's why they don't seem to be making this style anymore. When I go online I only find complaints that the buttons on the key fob have fallen off or no longer work. We have a 2012 KIA Soul with low mileage and in perfect condition. However, a few years ago the key fob stopped working, so the doors had to be opened manually. For some people this isn't a big deal, but I'm disabled and my dominant hand isn't working due to recent surgery. You never know how good it is until something is gone as getting into the car was extremely difficult when I had to carry something else. My husband wanted an SUV so we decided to put our 2012 KIA up for sale. I took the car to the dealer for the recall and asked about replacing the remote control. I was shocked to learn that a single key fob replacement would cost at least $140. Our daughter came to visit the next day and it turned out that she had the exact same problem with her 2013 KIA Sportage. However, she bought one from Revain. It took about 30 minutes but my husband finally figured out how to change the key fob after watching a youtube video. So we ordered one for our car from the same company and it arrived in one day. For some reason it was a lot harder to assemble for the Kia Sportage but my husband eventually assembled it and it worked. However, for some reason, the buttons don't stay locked together. We actually had to wrap it in clear tape to hold it together. One complaint I have is the lack of instructions and it looks like they make the same key fob for several different models, that could be the problem.
