Perspectives as needed

Well designed for everyday use. The screen is a good size and bright. The sound quality is good, the battery life is very good. with the same charge more than 2 days, mostly with monitoring. In general I like the radio, but there are a few oddities I find when using it. I like zones where you can separate channels, like commercial radios. When you travel, it's good to have zones for different areas. You can also have digital and analog zones, which is very useful. quirks. I was looking for a dual band DMR radio that can also be used as an analog radio. Almost finished. Turning on channel mode will show your channels and their aliases, but then disable the ability to switch back to VFO mode. If you leave it in frequency mode, your channel aliases will not appear. I don't see an option to view channels while still being able to switch to VFO mode for analog scanning. You can only add 16 channels to the scan list. While this makes sense for business radios, radio amateurs need the flexibility of scanning with memory allocation and more than 16 places in a scan list. I'm not sure how such a small limit in larger metros could have many repeaters that could exceed that number. You can't adjust the brightness of the screen, and the volume level from 1 to 2 in analog mode goes from quiet to shit! More steps with volume is better. I will continue to carry the analog radio with me for scanning until I find something suitable. It seems that most of these problems can be solved with firmware. I hope the second round of firmware fixes most if not all of these quirks. I like the radio in general and the build quality makes me look at other Retevis branded radios for other purposes, but I also have concerns about the usability limitations of these.
