Review on πŸ’¨ High-Speed XQD Card Reader USB 3.0 - Fast Data Transfer for Sony G&M Series XQD and TF/SD/SDHC Cards by Justin Jeppi

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good data transfer speed but interferes with wireless mouse on shared USB-C hub

And on the other hand, with no additional setup and right out of the box, I got 150MB on a second (not megabit) transfer rate from my XQD -Map. Not record speed, but solid and much faster than USB 2.0, and so many transfer rates for readers - pure imagination. 4 stars, that's the most important thing. I like the extra USB-C port on the front. I alternate between my Dell Latitude at work and my Dell Latitude at home, so all my peripherals are connected to the USB-C center. This way I can switch between them with a single USB socket and plug in all my peripherals at the same time. A kind of docking station for the poor. It works well. Now the problems. Let me start with a disclaimer. Maybe these things all use the same chipset and have the same problem. And maybe it's a driver issue, or a recent Windows issue, or even a problem with my USB C hub. And with some Windows errors, I bet I can figure it out and fix it, and probably get more speed from the reader too. But whatever it is, when I plug it into my USB-C hub but do absolutely nothing, it makes my wireless mouse (on the same hub) very choppy and slow. Even if he just sits without an installed card. He did it on both laptops (one company managed image, own Windows 10 install but both Windows and both similar but not identical Dell width). Finally, it's really no big deal, I just plug in the reader when I want to extract files from the XQD card, extract the files, and then unplug the reader. In my case, the USB-C hub has a button to turn the port on and off, so it's even easier. Or I could plug it into a different USB port on the laptop instead of a hub. Most people here don't complain about it. So if you plug it into its own dedicated USB-C port, it probably won't, so you probably don't care. And again, this sort of thing usually has more to do with Windows and drivers than the hardware you buy here, so it may just go away (or show up) with a driver install or Windows patch. But it would be nice. if it hadn't been done. I'll update this review if I find a patch for the Windows driver/setup.

Pros
  • Computer accessories and peripherals
Cons
  • Big and bulky
