I'm a beginner so can't vouch for more complex projects but I love this article. I had no problems with that. The only thing is if I get a little crazy and spin it really fast the spool sometimes flies off but other than that there is no problem. I don't use super expensive or trendy yarn so I don't know if it would be any different. I've used dk for super chunky yarn sizes and everything worked great. I didn't have to split the strands; I managed to make super huge cakes. I didn't replace it with a topper to make the cake bigger, but I can see how it could be useful. I was very excited when the yarn tool finally worked properly for me. I went crazy and did all my strands. The only advice I would give is hang up my table size. My table was too thick for the clamp to sit upright, but this works better. Gravity keeps the arm straight and ensures even tension. It looks like this will solve people's problems when the hand doesn't hold. Unfortunately this product helps me to get rid of my yarn addiction :)
