
All the parts I received (in a box) are different. None of them have the same cost components in all positions. Most of them had obvious soldering defects including tombstone and loose connections. However, they all have one thing in common. None of them work without adding some missing parts. All are missing a key component (capacitor) on the receiver board. (I've circled the missing component in the attached image.) This is the only possible signal path between the preamp and the rest or RF circuitry. If you look at the picture of the details in the ad, you can clearly see that there is a capacitor in the place I marked. I added a 100pF capacitor at the marked location on the test board and after some tweaking and tweaking I was able to get it to work. (After it works, it seems good enough in a low-noise environment. However, the basic design is flawed in that it's much more prone to noise than it might otherwise be with the same amount of detail.) So what Don't fix it is a project, it's a waste of time.
