Would you like us to fix a customer's car if I misdiagnosed a knock. It wasn't an engine mount, but I could tell the engine mount was good. And to be honest, the customer's old engine mount was marginal. So it turned out to be a bad AC compressor which I assumed was a pulley. I've never heard of an air conditioning compressor failing due to a thud. And the knocking at idle was the same whether the A/C was on or off. And here's the thing, those engine mounts have been known to wear out. So if you dismantle the old ones you can also install the new ones, that thing is cheap. Good part but it's not expensive!
