Our son wanted a "real microscope" so that he could REALLY see his slides. I did a lot of research and finally decided on this one. It's perfect for the aspiring K-1-2 scientist! It's crystal clear and shows detail unlike some more childish models. We ordered slides from National Geographic for this and it was a good choice. It was packaged so nicely that it was easy to open. With a few simple tweaks, our little scientist was zipping through the slides in no time. The light is perfect so you can really see everything. I would recommend it to any child starting out in science.
