I used these 20”x20” inserts in pillowcases 18”x18” and they fit perfectly. They fill in the covers well. These inserts are covered with a comfortable cotton fabric. Most pads you will find (like JoAnns Poly Fil pads) are covered in cheap gauze, like a cheap airplane pillow. These cushions have a very similar feel to feathers and work when you want to do a karate style. They do cost a bit more money, but if you plan on changing your pillow seasonally, they're worth the extra money.
