No matter how I tried to insert the bushing into the shift rod connector hole, it wouldn't go through. I was able to get 3 sides for the hub but the hub lip diameter was 2. I used scissors and cut 1/4 to 1/2 of the overhang 1/4 the diameter at a time and kept trying. After reducing the lead by about 3/4, he finally pushed the connector through. I put the included grease on the shifter ball. Then I pressed firmly on the ball joint with built in socket with my left thumb until I heard a click and tadaaa, everything works! It was very easy to trim off a small portion of the edge with scissors and no other tools or disassembly were required for the 2012 SE Jetta. Tip: If the sub-harness doesn't line up with the ball or pin because it came loose in gear or neutral, use the yellow shift lock button located under the shift boot. I hope this helps someone, good luck. I would give 5 stars if I didn't have to change it.
