I don't have an external outlet on my patio so I had to go back to alternative energy sources. The last LED lights I had were battery operated. The headlights (and battery case) were weatherproof, but after 4 years of Maryland weather they were still rusty. I was hesitant about buying solar lights because I had no luck with them. All in all, these are the best LED lights I've ever bought. They are very bright and very functional. Even though they are solar powered, the solar panel in these lights is awesome! The lights come on at nightfall and stay bright until the sun comes up; and Maryland isn't that consistently sunny yet. We've had some very sunny days but mostly cloudy and these lights work fantastic. At first I only bought one set but I was so impressed that I bought a second one. The lights have multiple settings and I've played around with all of them. There's a blinking setting that can cause seizures when you or someone you know is having seizures, so pay attention to that setting (I can't remember which one), but there's also a nice blinking setting, a slow one vibrant attitude, a standard attitude and an attitude that changes them all. One downside (if you want to call it a downside) is that they only turn on when the sun actually goes down. So if you want them to turn on at dusk (for a party or wedding) you need to cover the solar thermal collector to turn on the light.
