Recently purchased 5 new pans to replace our 30 year old set. Currently, like everything else, they are made in CHINA (although this information can only be seen in the fine print on the outer packaging). I washed all the pans on our dishwasher's regular cycle before use and assumed they were clean. A few weeks later - having used the pots a number of times - I washed one by hand and was shocked to find that there was a black residue on my kitchen towel. I checked other new pots and found the same thing. I contacted Farberware and they said it was a polish used in the manufacturing process. They assured me it wasn't harmful, but honestly, who wants to swallow polish with their food? I pointed out that it should be removed before the pots were shipped and was told to use a solution of baking soda, vinegar and water to remove it. UNREAL. Buyers should not do this. I store pots but would like potential buyers to be aware of this issue.
