Good price but not as good as original Farberware cookware.

I bought this to replace a 40 year old original Farberware pot that needed replacing because it was accidentally left on fire and burned the pot rendering it unusable. The new pans use a stainless steel base, while the old pans were covered in aluminum, which distributes heat better. The quality of the stainless steel is good, but inferior to the ok'd pans. What didn't stick to good pots will stick to new ones. Luckily the new pots are ok. All in all a good pot for the price.

Pros
  • Easy Install
Cons
  • Was damaged

Poor steel or manufacturing process, rust after first use. I received it to replace an extremely cheap IKEA 3qt lightweight kit that was rusting. It's more of a heavyweight thing here. Didn't rust in the dishwasher. Rusted after first use - boiled shrimp in 1.5 liters of water with 2 tablespoons of salt for 3-4 minutes and leave unattended for 40 minutes. When washing I saw dark rust spots on the bottom like a set from IKEA. My 18/10 stainless steel pans don't. Very disappointed after reading…

Handles are best heated in the kitchen and dining room

I love this little pot for soup, pasta and potatoes. This is the perfect size for a single person or a couple when cooking in batches. There is no vent hole in the lid, which I knew about when I bought it, so make sure it's boiling. What surprised me was how hot the grips get. Since the pot is only 8 inches in diameter, the heat from my gas stove could really heat it up, so I needed hot pads to take it off the heat or hold the pot while stirring. Didn't break the deal but was a little…

What you need to know before you buy Farberware Classic Cookware

Recently purchased 5 new pans to replace our 30 year old set. Currently, like everything else, they are made in CHINA (although this information can only be seen in the fine print on the outer packaging). I washed all the pans on our dishwasher's regular cycle before use and assumed they were clean. A few weeks later - having used the pots a number of times - I washed one by hand and was shocked to find that there was a black residue on my kitchen towel. I checked other new pots and found the…

Pros
  • So far so good
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Update February 2019… Now I got 1 star for this pan after rating it much higher once and then resetting it when it started to sharpen. Now it's very difficult to get rid of odors completely, especially after cooking starchy foods like beans and potatoes, but whatever it is, there's residue that needs to be cleaned repeatedly because the food just sticks to the bottom. I recently made a tomato sauce and cleaned it up a few times afterwards, but when I used them side by side to make pudding…
